First of all, we're sorry that you're having some difficulty. All of our pattern pages are constructed in the same way, all are tested before they go live on the website, and all of the PDFs can be downloaded. It may not be much consolation, but thousands of readers do manage to access the PDFs every day.

Unfortunately, viewing web pages involves a combination of factors including your computer, your browser, and your version of Adobe Reader, so it's hard to diagnose individual problems. However, here are some measures that have worked for people.

Things to try

● When you click on the words 'Click here to download' a box appears, saying 'Do you want to open or save this file?'. If you've tried opening the PDF, try saving the PDF to your hard drive.

● If you've tried saving the PDF, try opening it instead. This may sound simplistic, but it has worked for some readers. Make sure you know where the PDF file is being saved; many computers will automatically save them to a folder which is not where you would choose to put them.

● Make sure you have Adobe software installed on your computer. Download the free software here.

● Bear in mind that if you're accessing the patterns from a computer at work, the company's firewall may not allow you to download PDFs.

● Try using a different browser: the program you use to look at pages on the internet. If you're using Internet Explorer, try using Firefox, or Safari.

● Ask someone who's perhaps more internet-savvy to help you.
