Stain Buster — Grass

Fabric

Pretreat with a prewash stain remover or rub biological laundry liquid into the stain. Wash on the hottest possible setting for that fabric, adding bleach if safe for the fabric.

Upholstery

Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with nail polish remover (warning: do not use nail polish remover on fabrics containing acetate or triacetate as it will melt these fibres), if safe for the fabric. Sponge the stain with a proprietary dry-cleaning solvent and blot until the solvent is absorbed. If the stain remains, mix one tablespoon of washing up liquid with two cups of cool water. Sponge the stain with the detergent solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Mix one tablespoon of ammonia (warning: never mix bleach and ammonia – the resulting fumes are hazardous) with two cups of cool water. Sponge the stain with the ammonia solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Sponge with cold water and blot dry.

Carpet

Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with nail polish remover. Sponge the stain with a proprietary dry-cleaning solvent and blot until the solvent is absorbed. If the stain remains, mix one tablespoon of washing up liquid with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with the detergent solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with the ammonia solution and blot until the liquid is absorbed. Sponge with cold water and blot dry.
