Stain Buster — Paint, Oil-based

paint, oil based

Fabric

Scrape off excess paint and using a clean white cloth, blot up as much paint as possible. Rinse. It is very important not to let the fabric dry. Place the stain face down on a stack of white paper towels or cloths. Blot with turpentine. Hit the stain to help break up the paint. Repeat, replacing the paper towels or cloth until no more paint can be removed. Now treat any remaining stain with washing up liquid or dishwashing detergent and soak overnight. The following day rinse the fabric well and put through a wash. If the stain remains, treat it with a prewash stain remover and wash it again.

OR

If the stain is old, soften the stain by treating it with the product the paint manufacturer recommends for thinning the paint (check the paint can's label). Once the paint has softened, treat as for fresh stains and follow the above steps
